16th International Metropolis Conference, September 12-16, 2011
NEW DEADLINE
FOR WORKSHOP, ROUNDTABLE, and POSTER PROPOSALS
We are pleased to announce that the deadline for proposal submission has been extended until April 10, 2011.
Proposals should relate closely to one or more of the themes of the conference:
Globalization and migration in the South
International Mobility in Integrated Economic Spaces
Migration in the context of islands
The effects of large-scale emigration on homelands
Maintaining relations within the Diasporas
The fostering of transnational identities through Internet and social networking website
Ageing and migration
Living in Multicultural Cities: interethnic relations and daily life
Metropolis conferences represent the largest annual gathering of experts on migration and diversity. They aim to engage partners from different sectors and different national contexts in discussion and debate through a rich workshop programme. Workshops and roundtables must include representation from more than one sector (policy, academic, NGO), and from more than one country. While most workshops use a panel format, other formats (such as debates or directed questions to presenters) are encouraged. The Adjudication Committee will also want to see that you have ensured enough time for audience interaction. This year we are also accepting poster proposals.
Please note, the deadline for submitting individual paper abstracts – for consideration by workshop organizers – has been extended to March 20. (Individual paper abstracts will not be adjudicated but will be made available to workshop and roundtable organizers for consideration.)
To submit a proposal, please go to the PROPOSAL SUBMISSION link on the main page of the conference web site: www.metropolis2011.org
We look forward to seeing you in the Azores
